New Canadian Mental Health Charity Announced
Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation Focuses on Current Research Projects

Toronto, Ontario - November 17, 2010

Joe Pantoliano, also known as “Joey Pants” is the keynote speaker at the 2010 Silver Dinner hosted by the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation (CPRF) and Mental Health Partnerships of Canada (MHPC).

Joey Pants is an award winning actor and director and is no stranger when it comes to mental health. His experiences both on and off screen include: his personal clinical depression, dyslexia, drinking and gambling, his mother’s bipolar disorder, his roles in “Canvas” as a husband who deals with his wife’s schizophrenia and as a sociopathic gangster in “The Sopranos”.

Joey is a dedicated advocate for mental health. He founded "You're Kidding! Me too!”; an organization committed to building awareness and breaking the stigma associated with mental illness. He has published an autobiography, called "Who's Sorry Now: The True Story of a Stand-Up Guy".

He has appeared in over 50 films on the big screen including: “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”, “The Sopranos”, “Canvas”, “The Matrix”, “Risky Business” and “M*A*S*H” to mention a few.

Since 1980, CPRF has raised funds to support mental health and addiction research across Canada. In 2009, CPRF established a strategic alliance with MHPC, a national charity arm’s length from the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). Together, CPRF and MHPC are working towards the common goal of finding better treatments and services for the one in five Canadians affected by mental health problems each year.

Mental illness affects millions including people you know, love, trust and depend upon. The event takes place on Wednesday November 17, 2010 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. TD Waterhouse is the title sponsor. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Individual seats are available for $195.00 per person. Come see Joey speak while supporting mental health!
